Elisabeth Margaret Sohler – deregistered for three years by Nurses and Midwives Tribunal
The Health Care Complaints Commission prosecuted Ms Elisabeth Margaret Sohler, a registered nurse, before the Nurses and Midwives Tribunal. The prosecution related to Ms Sohler making false claims for over-time payments and on-call allowances while employed at St George Hospital. The Commission also alleged that Ms Sohler had made false entries in patient records in connection with her fraudulent claims.

Dr Kurt Kaiser – reprimanded and conditions imposed by Medical Professional Standards Committee
The Health Care Complaints Commission recently prosecuted Dr Kurt Kaiser, an anaesthetist, before a Medical Professional Standards Committee. The prosecution related to Dr Kaiser’s inadequate assessment of a patient for hernia surgery and his follow-up care, including that he failed to participate in attempts to resuscitate the patient. In addition, the Commission argued that Dr Kaiser made inadequate entries in the medical record.

The prosecution was the result of several complaints made to the Victims Services of the Attorney General’s Department by victims of crime who were being counselled by Mr Clark-Saunders.
