Final report by the Joint Parliamentary Committee relating to the operation of the Health Care Complaints Act

In June 2010, the Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Health Care Complaints Commission released its final report relating to the operation of the Health Care Complaints Act. The aim of the inquiry was to examine the operation of the Health Care Complaints Act, in particular:
- any unnecessary complexities in the New South Wales health care complaints system
- the appropriateness of the current assessment and investigative powers of the Health Care Complaints Commission
- the effectiveness of information-sharing between the Health Care Complaints Commission, area health services and registration authorities in New South Wales.
The Committee's report was tabled in both houses of Parliament in June 2010. The chairperson of the Committee, the Hon Helen Westwood, addressed Parliament on 27 October 2010, highlighting the findings of the Committee.
