RN Michelle Gallard – Stage 2 – Registration cancelled
22 May 2018
The Health Care Complaints Commission prosecuted a complaint against Michelle Gallard, a registered nurse and midwife before the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (‘the Tribunal’). The complaint alleged unsatisfactory professional conduct and professional misconduct in relation to one incident of misappropriating a schedule 8 drug and various additional incidents involving the handling and administration of opioids. The complaint also alleged impairment.
In the stage 1 decision of 27 November 2017, most of the conduct was proven and findings of unsatisfactory professional conduct, professional misconduct and impairment were made.
On 1 May 2018 the Tribunal published its Stage 2 decision. It ordered that Ms Gallard’s registration be cancelled and that she may not apply to be re-registered for a period of 10 months.
