Dr Bijender Gautam - Paediatrician – Suspension for Unsatisfactory Professional Conduct

The Health Care Complaints Commission prosecuted a complaint against Dr Bijender Gautam, paediatrician before the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal. It was alleged that Dr Gautam violated the boundaries of a patient’s mother  when he inappropriately rubbed her shoulder, kissed her above the forehead and near her lips, and encouraged her to return after hours, without the patient, and without being billed.

On 15 December 2020, the Tribunal found Dr Gautam guilty of unsatisfactory professional conduct and professional misconduct. The practitioner was reprimanded and suspended from practicing for a period of three months.

The decision can be found at NSW Caselaw.
