Dr Mohammed Jaffer – Medical Practitioner – Registration cancelled for unsatisfactory professional conduct and professional misconduct
10 November 2021
The Health Care Complaints Commission prosecuted a complaint against Dr Mohammed Jaffer, before the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (‘The Tribunal’).
It was alleged, that between 23 August 2011 to 15 February 2018 , Dr Jaffer inappropriately prescribed schedule 4 and 8 drugs to seven patients and inappropriately prescribed schedule 4 and 4D drugs in his own name. It was further alleged that Dr Jaffer failed to maintain adequate records for this prescribing. It was alleged that this conduct breached conditions on Dr Jaffer’s registration, which had been imposed by the Medical Council of NSW on 21 December 2017.
In October 2021, the Tribunal found Dr Jaffer guilty of unsatisfactory professional conduct and professional misconduct. The Tribunal cancelled Dr Jaffer’s registration with a non-review period of three years.
