Mr Michael Azzam – Pharmacist – Registration Cancelled

17 August 2021

The Health Care Complaints Commission prosecuted a complaint against, pharmacist Mr Michael Azzam before the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal. The complaint alleged that Mr Azzam:

  • Misappropriated baby formula with a value of $20,000 and sold it onto a third party for his own financial benefit
  • Sold Schedule 4 drugs with the total value of just over $40,000 in circumstances where he used a ‘NOODnet’ account to process the sale, did so for his own financial benefit, and forged and/or misused prescriptions.
  • Improperly stored and disposed of Schedule 4 drugs in contravention of the NSW Poisons and Therapeutic Goods Regulation 2008.

On 5 August 2021, the Tribunal found Mr Azzam guilty, cancelled Mr Azzam’s registration, and prohibited him from seeking review of the order for two years.

The Tribunal’s full decision may be found at NSW Caselaw.
