Dr Anne-Louise Swain – Medical Practitioner – Registration cancelled for impairment and incompetence

The Health Care Complaints Commission prosecuted a complaint against Medical Practitioner Dr Anne-Louise Swain before the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (“the Tribunal”).

It was alleged that Dr Swain was impaired and had unmanaged mental health issues. It was also alleged that Dr Swain lacked the mental capacity to practise as a doctor and was therefore not competent to practise.

In its decision of 1 December 2022, the Tribunal found the complaint proven. The Tribunal found that Dr Swain was impaired and was not competent to practise as a doctor.

The Tribunal cancelled Dr Swain’s registration as a medical practitioner with a non-review period of 1 year.
