Dr Shaun Segal – General Practitioner – Professional Misconduct and Unsatisfactory Professional Conduct

29 July 2022

The Health Care Complaints Commission prosecuted a complaint against general practitioner, Dr Shaun Segal, before the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (“the Tribunal”). It was alleged that between 2016 and 2019, Dr Segal engaged in inappropriate personal communication and a personal relationship with a patient.

In July 2022, the Tribunal found that there had been an inappropriate and exploitative personal relationship between Dr Segal and the patient. The Tribunal determined that Dr Segal’s actions amounted to unsatisfactory professional conduct and professional misconduct.

The Tribunal will determine protective orders following a further (Stage 2) hearing.
