Mr Brendan Luke Vaughn – Occupational Therapist – Disqualification for unsatisfactory professional conduct and professional misconduct
5 August 2022
The Health Care Complaints Commission prosecuted a complaint against occupational therapist, Mr Brendan Luke Vaughn, before the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (‘the Tribunal’). It was alleged that between 9 January 2020 and 15 September 2020, while working at the Benevolent Society, Mr Vaughn inappropriately billed 21 clients for services which were not performed by him in the sum of $16,686.46.
In its decision of 28 July 2022, the Tribunal found the complaint proven. The Tribunal found that Mr Vaughn was guilty of unsatisfactory professional conduct and professional misconduct. The Tribunal ordered that, if Mr Vaughn was still registered, his registration would have been cancelled and disqualified him from being registered as an occupational therapist for two years.
